How can you install DLL files and register them to Windows OS?

Do you know what DLL files are? These are packages containing data and codes that can be used by more than one program installed in your computer. In the absence of even one of these, your PC may start exhibiting errors. In fact, there are some DLL files in your PC which assist your operating system to start every time you turn on your PC. If these files get corrupted or deleted somehow, chances are that you won’t be able to start up your computer.
When the Microsoft Windows operating system was loaded in your computer, a library of DLL files was installed automatically with it. However, there are also some DLL files which get installed along with the software utilities which you install in your PC. These DLLs are often shared by multiple processes on your PC, and for that reason these are also known as “shared DLLs”.
When you uninstall a software utility or program with a shared DLL, chances are that the DLL file will be uninstalled as well. However, since the DLL was being used by other programs, you may see some of your other programs functioning incorrectly, or not at all. In such cases, you will have to reinstall the concerned DLL file (either from the CD/DVD of the software, or by downloading the DLL from the internet). The process is similar on both Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows Vista.
Once you have downloaded the DLL or gotten it from the CD/DVD of the software, copy and paste the file in the System32 folder, which is inside the Windows folder. Then click on the Start button, and click on Run. In the Run box, type regsvr32 filename.dll and click OK. The DLL will be installed in your computer and you will receive a message saying that the DLL was successfully installed. That’s it. You’re done.
